Hardware Vendor Forum Links
Posted by: Aaron Delp in HP Blades, HP Insight Manager, HP Servers, IBM Blades, IBM Director, IBM Servers, NetApp, Q-Logic, VMWareIn my day to day activities I depend a lot on the hardware vendor forums for the products I support. I wanted to take a second to share all the links I have acquired. Some will be obvious to everyone, but a few of them are pretty obscure. Enjoy!

Handy list - there’s also a Sun one here (although not as busy) http://forum.java.sun.com/forum.jspa?forumID=908
The Sun blade systems, whilst maybe not as “clever” as the HP/IBM range interms of consolidated interconnects are quite appealing to a lot of projects I’m working on at the moment because;
-It allows a mix of Intel/AMD and Sparc CPU architecture blades within the same chassis
-Hardware support works out quite cost-effective as it’s charged per chassis (rather than per blade)
They do also have some other advantages - each blade slot has two seperate PCI slots within the chassis so its easier to mix and match IO configurations than it is with HP c-series for example. it’s basically the same as a bunch of rackmount servers hosted in a single chassis with a shared power bus.
more info on the range here http://www.sun.com/servers/blades/6000/
Thanks
Sorry for not posting your comment sooner! It got caught in the Spam filter (I’m still tweaking the back end of this site). I didn’t see it until just now. Great Information!
